HOLIDAYS

The Rapides Parish School Board shall establish the holiday schedule for all personnel in addition to those included in the adoption of a school calendar.   Whenever a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the Board may declare that the holiday be observed on the preceding Friday or following Monday, respectively.

General election day shall be designated by each school system as a holiday every four (4) years for the presidential election.

Ten-month custodians work a regular school year and are not to work during School Board approved holiday periods, such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc.  Further, that they work an additional month of twenty (20) days; this additional month to be worked during the school vacation period – ten (10) days after school closes and ten (10) days prior to school opening.

Principals, with the approval of the Assistant Superintendent of Administration, may adjust this schedule to meet the custodial needs of the school as long as the total days worked during the school year are not increased.
