FACILITIES PLANNING

The Rapides Parish School Board shall retain the services of an architect or licensed engineer to prepare plans and specifications for all capital improvements, public works construction or repairs and renovations of existing public works or facilities, wherein the estimated cost equals or exceeds the amount now stipulated or as hereinafter amended by law to require advertisement for sealed bids.

Any alteration or changes to school facilities shall be submitted first to the Director of Facilities for review and approval before any work commences, to assure compliance with Life-Safety Codes and ensure that there is no conflict with existing structural, architectural, electrical, or mechanical systems.

PROFESSIONAL SERVICES PROCUREMENT

A review committee will select professionals for School Board projects.  Requests for Qualifications shall be advertised in the official journal.  Professionals interested in providing services may request information from the School Board office concerning each project to be awarded.

The Committee will meet and review qualifications, interview as many candidates as deemed qualified, and make a recommendation to the Superintendent of the top three candidates.  The Superintendent will make a recommendation to the School Board.

A written list of criteria to be used for evaluation will be developed and be given to each professional planning to submit his/her qualifications.
