SCHOOL BUS SAFETY

The Rapides Parish School Board shall require all school bus operators to operate their headlights during any bus operation.  All new or used buses put into operation shall be equipped with strobe lights.

USE OF CELLULAR TELEPHONES

The School Board shall authorize the issuance of cellular telephones to all bus operators.  The use of cellular telephones by school bus operators shall be authorized only in an emergency situation, such as mechanical problem, accident, or illness of the bus operator or passenger.  The bus should be pulled safely out of traffic (if possible) and the motor turned off before the cell phone is used.
