SCHOOL BOARD COMMITTEES
The President, with School Board approval, shall authorize the creation of standing School Board committees to be charged with deliberations of certain issues as deemed necessary. Except for the executive committee, such committees shall be composed of members of the School Board whose chairperson shall be appointed by the President, and the President shall be given the option to change committee membership.
A committee chairperson who will be absent for a meeting shall notify the School Board President of details relating to his/her committee in his/her absence, and should he/she fail to contact the School Board President, the President shall allow the remaining members of the committee to select a chairperson for that month.
The Rapides Parish School Board shall have four (4) standing committees, as follows:
Executive Committee
Finance Committee
Education Committee
Personnel Committee
Committees of the School Board shall meet at least quarterly, provided that the President, Superintendent, or committee chairpersons have the authority to call special meetings should the need arise.
Special committees may from time to time be appointed by the School Board to study specific issues. The membership of any special committees need not be restricted to members of the School Board, but shall include such persons who may have knowledge or interest in the subject studied.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The Rapides Parish School Board shall appoint from its membership an Executive Committee of three (3) members, and shall fix the terms of office of those members. In appointing the members of the Executive Committee, the School Board shall designate the chairperson. It shall be called in meeting by its chairperson for consideration of such questions as have been referred to it by resolution of the School Board or as may be called by the President, and it shall have power to act only when authorized to do so by formal resolution of the School Board.
COMMITTEE MEETINGS
The agenda, time and date of committee meetings shall be set by the committee chairperson.
All committee meetings shall be open to the public, except in those instances allowed as provided by state law. A majority of the committee membership shall constitute a quorum for purposes of making recommendations or taking any action that has been previously authorized.
